King Ahaserus trusted Haman to give him wise advice. Haman knew how to prey on the weakness of the king. He knew how to manipulate Ahasuerus with enough information to persuade him to Haman's point of view. Haman's tongue twisted the truth and brought destruction.

We can learn from this. We need to surround ourselves with people who we trust to not only be wise but also brave enough to speak the truth to us. We can easily be persuaded by someone we trust towards things that are not wise, so it is vital to continue reading the Bible and staying in a relationship with God. That way we can differentiate between truth and lies.

Dear God, Help me to surround myself with wise counsel and always speak words of truth. Reveal to me anyone who does not have pure motives and give me discernment through Your word as I seek Your wisdom. Amen.
