Fear Is a Liar Devotional by Zach Williamsनमुना
Day 2: Today’s lie: You’re not beautiful.
One of the lies that the song “Fear Is a Liar” addresses is “you’re not beautiful.” Probably the main way that the ultimate truth of God’s word combats this lie is the verse Genesis 1:27 (NIV) that says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” God is so beautiful that even “the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1 NIV). If we were created in the image of God, that means the beauty that God possesses has been passed down to us. When we feel like we’re not beautiful or attractive, it’s important to remember that we were made in the image of God.
Something pivotal to remember is that the beauty that God possess and that we then possess through God is not an outward beauty but “rather, it should be that of your inner self…” (1 Peter 3:4 NIV). 2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV says, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” While the first part of this verse may seem pessimistic, the second part should provide hope and comfort that our true worth, merit, importance is under the surface and is being renewed by God. He’s in the business of rebirth and renewal.
We are the beautiful creations of God.

The song "Fear Is a Liar" talks about many fears that the enemy tells us and how they are lies meant to keep us away from a relationship with God. The Fear is a Liar Devotional walks through seven different fears that we're told and how the word of God disproves those and helps us combat them. Thank you for joining me. -Zach Williams
