Michael Boggs, More Like A Lion - The Overflow Devoनमुना
What I Already Know
I don’t know about you, but I generally don’t struggle with the new stuff that God is teaching me. Let me explain. If I open my Bible and it falls open to a passage of scripture that I also saw on a billboard on my way to work yesterday, and that my wife quoted to me last week, and that my pastor preached on the previous Sunday, I’m pretty quick to see that God is showing me something and I need to learn it.
I’ve found that I have the most trouble with the things I already know.
For instance, I know that God will never leave me or forsake me, but there are still times when I feel alone. I know God’s word says that He will forgive not just one, but all of my sins, but there are still times that I feel I have done something just outside of the grace of God. I genuinely struggle with this. I wanted to write a song about that struggle.
But, what if today you fully and truly believed in the things you already know to be true. Things like these verses below:
- “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
- “I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength.” (Phil 4:13)
- “I am crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live but it is Christ that lives within me.” (Gal 2:20)
- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Cor 5:17)
- “The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
If we can believe these things, we just might be able to live in that beautiful thing called freedom, which Jesus talked so much about and provided for us through His death.
Jesus, I believe. Help my unbelief.
