"God’s Answer to Sin"

This picture of a serpent-like creature – slithery and silent– is just about the best way to illustrate how sin enters the world: subtly, targeting the unsuspecting. “Did God really say…” the serpent said. In challenging God’s spoken word, Satan caught Adam and Eve off guard and doubtful. Jumping on this deceptively tiny seed of doubt, the serpent tweaked God’s Word further, lying about the consequences of disobedience. As a result, Adam and Eve lost their home, and their relationship with God was broken. But God stepped in with a way back: a prophesied Conqueror, the first mention of the Savior who would reconcile humankind to God, and defeat sin in the end. Points to Ponder: What sort of trouble have you gotten into as the result of a misunderstanding? Let’s begin today to listen more closely, especially when it comes to God’s Word.
