Love God Greatly: God With Us

SOAP – Micah 5:2
Over 400 years before Jesus’ Advent, Micah prophesied that God would deliver His people through the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Micah prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem of the tribe of Judah and that He would be a descendant of David. God chose the small insignificant city of Bethlehem to bring forth our glorious Savior. From this small city, Jesus would reach the entire world.

In what situation might I be missing God’s grace and glory because I am more focused on my (or someone else’s) inadequacies, flaws, and insignificance? God often uses the insignificant things to demonstrate His glory. His blessings are not granted on the basis of our significance, our achievements, or our merits. His blessings are based on His glory alone. We can trust that God can create the extraordinary out of the ordinary.

Father God, You are the God who meets us where we are, strengthening us in our weaknesses. Lord, help me to decrease and allow You to use my weaknesses and my insignificance for Your glory. Help me to always see Your grace and glory in the people and circumstances that I deem insignificant. Let our weaknesses and lowliness always point to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
