Paul
“He [Jesus] has said to me: my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weakness, that the power of Christ may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The apostle Paul was a passionate man. Once he came to faith in Jesus Christ, he undertook several journeys to make Jesus' gospel known. He wrote several letters that encouraged the first Christians and helped them get to know Jesus better. These letters are still being read after 2,000 years. Before his conversion, Paul was already a passionate man. Raised with the Jewish Scriptures (now called the Old Testament by Christians), he had become a very religious scribe, someone very knowledgeable and able to teach the words of God to others. A fierce opponent of Jesus of Nazareth, he persecuted the early Christians; until he literally went down on his knees before Jesus. After his conversion, he became an ardent proclaimer of Jesus' redeeming love.
Paul was not written off or kept on the sidelines by Jesus because of his past. As a Christian, he experienced suffering and struggled with weakness. Paul's strength were Jesus' words: 'My grace is sufficient for you because My strength is accomplished in weakness’. Your past, your own weakness do not stand in the way of Jesus wanting to show His strength in your life. Give Him room, trust Him with your weakness, and discover (even more) how His strength can and will work through your weakness.
Will you dare to be weak and allow Jesus to show His strength through it?
