Finding Security, Freedom, and Identity in God's Sight

1 ДЕН ОД 5

Day 1: You Are Not Alone When you are hurting and your own efforts at being seen or understood fail, you think you are alone. But think again. God has His eye on you. Look at the story of Hagar in Genesis 16. Hagar, a pregnant slave woman, fled from Sarai. Alone. Hagar wasn’t looking for God when she ran away, but God was most certainly looking for her, and He found her. Hagar’s amazing encounter with God compelled her to name Him: “You are the God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13 niv). In Hebrew, this name is El Roi; it’s the only time in Scripture we see God so named. Think of it: a woman with no position in society named the Lord. Hagar’s story helps us remember the following: God is coming to find us. God is coming to find you. When you are on the run for your life—emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, and physically—you cannot outrun God. He runs to find you. We see the radicalness of the gospel reflected right here in the messy middle of Genesis. When loneliness won’t leave you alone, remember that you are seen by the One who sees. Reflect: Do you trust God to run after you? To find you no matter where you go? Prayer: Lord, feeling alone cuts deep. To feel unseen. Unnoticed. Help me receive the truth that being seen by You is the highest honor, the deepest safety. Help me to tilt my chin and catch a glimpse of You, the One Who Sees.
