Why Is Redemption Necessary?Примерок
Born in Iniquity
Nobody escapes the fact that you need redemption.
Redemption, from what?
From the darkness to which we are naturally bound. This has everything to do with the Fall of Man and the fallen nature in which we are born. For we are born as slaves to sin (Psalm 51:5), we are literally imprisoned, and we can’t save ourselves from it.
We are separated from the light.
We are separated from God’s Kingdom.
Through sin, we are cut off from God.
And because we find ourselves in darkness, we can’t see the Kingdom of God.
In John 3:3, Jesus says:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
You can’t ‘see’ it because you live in darkness, where sin doesn’t seem to be bad but for which you do have to pay the price. And the price of sin is death.
Paul writes in Romans 7:24:
“O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”
He can’t do it himself.
But then, a verse later, he says:
“I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
Yes, we are born in iniquity, but that isn’t the end of the story. Thanks to Jesus, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:14).
