30 Days Defeating the Arch-Enemy of Our Finances (Mammon)Примерок
IN YOUR OWN STRENGTH
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means He is Lord and we are His servants. Obedience is one of the hallmarks of being a Christian. Obedience is necessary because our lives are now under new management. As the apostle Paul said, “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." (Galatians 2:20b). That is, we no longer live by our own strength, instead we choose to live in dependence on God. As such, we should not have an attitude of self-sufficiency about our finances. Unfortunately, many Christians fail to go deeper in their faith because they refuse to surrender their finances to the Lord.
From the very start in Israel's history, God told them that His favor would be what set them apart. Even though they would work to create wealth, in reality it was the Lord’s favor that gave them the increase. Sometimes being good with money can be a bad thing if it is coming out of a heart of self-reliance and pride. Those attitudes are why it’s so hard for wealthy people to surrender completely to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If you are a great financial administrator and strategist or if you are someone who desperately needs to grow in how you handle money, everyone needs to know that surrendering to Christ involves all that you are and have. Don't listen to Mammon's suggestion that you turn your back on the Holy Spirit's direction over your finances. If you surrender more and more of your life to the Lord, including your finances, you will see amazing things happen!
Remember: Financial self-reliance thwarts God’s purpose for our life. Surrendering to Jesus means surrendering your entire life.
