PROTECTED BY GOD Very often when we met for prayer, the Lord has revealed, “This house is Mahanaim.” Mahanaim means camp of angels and indeed, every believer's house is a camp of angels. Recently, the Lord said, “There are more angels inside your house than there are policemen and guards outside.” Policemen can only stand outside and guard a house but the Lord guards us with His angels from within and without. Jacob called it “God's host” or His army. The Psalmist wrote,“The angels of the Lord encamp around those who fear Him.” The angels are ministering spirits sent by the Lord to deliver us. Jacob was afraid of meeting his long estranged brother from whom he fled for having cheated him of his birthright. Esau had four hundred strong men with him. But, the Lord saw his sense of trepidation and gave him a visitation of angels at Mahanaim. Jacob was spiritually strengthened and emboldened. The situation he faced did not change but the ministering spirits changed the attitudes of both towards each other, so much so they embraced each other. We need to face our fears boldly knowing that the Lord has already sent his angels to guard and further build our faith. If a person is ensconced in the middle of an army, he or she would feel absolutely secure. How much more secure should we feel when we know that we are never alone, that an army of the Lord's angels surround us at all times. We need to believe firmly and affirm that greater is He that is in us than he that is with them and more are they that are with us than they that are with him.
