Day 3

Breakfast: The Promise of a Champion

In Psalm 89:19-20, we read about a time when hope had diminished. The people of God were facing enemies and challenges that seemed insurmountable. In the midst of this despair, God gave a promise—the raising up of a champion. This champion would be an upholder, an advocate, a defender, a supporter, and one who speaks up for a cause. God declared, “I have found a champion. I have found David among the people; I have anointed him.”

Just as God raised up David to be a champion for His people, He still raises up champions today. These champions may not be kings or rulers, but they are men and women who stand up for what is right and speak up for the oppressed. They are the ones who defend the weak and the vulnerable, who advocate for justice, and who support those who are struggling. As followers of Christ, we are called to be champions in our own right, upholding the values of the Kingdom of God and fighting against the forces of darkness.

Lunch: The Strength of a Champion

In Psalm 89, God promised that enemies would not triumph over the champion He had raised up. This promise was fulfilled in David, who faced many enemies and challenges throughout his life but ultimately emerged victorious. David’s strength did not come from his own abilities or talents, but from his reliance on God. He trusted in the Lord and knew that it was God who would give him the victory.

As we seek to be champions for Christ, we must also rely on the strength of God. We cannot overcome the challenges and obstacles we face in our own strength, but we can find victory in God. Just as David trusted in Him, we too must trust in Him and rely on His strength. We must seek Him daily through prayer and Bible study, and allow His Word to guide our actions and decisions. It is through this dependence on God that we can find the strength to be true champions for Christ.

Dinner: The Legacy of a Champion

David’s legacy as a champion for God continued long after his death. He was remembered as a man after God’s own heart, a leader who upheld justice and righteousness. His example inspired generations of Israelites and continues to inspire us today. As we seek to be champions for Christ, we too have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy.

We can leave a legacy of faithfulness, of courage, and of love. We can be champions for those who are oppressed and marginalized, standing up for justice and defending the weak. We can be advocates for the gospel, sharing the love of Jesus with those who have never heard about it. And we can be supporters for our fellow believers, encouraging them in their walk with Christ and lifting them up when they fall.

Ultimately, our legacy as champions for the Lord will be determined by our faithfulness to Him. As we seek to follow Him and uphold His values, we can be confident that He will use us to make a difference in the world around us. May we be like David, trusting in God’s strength and relying on His guidance, as we seek to be champions for Christ in our own time and place.
