Pause

3 ДЕН ОД 15

In faith communities, we hear the word Sabbath a lot. If you grew up in church, it’s probably a word you heard used to describe Sundays or something listed in the Ten Commandments. Even if you’re new to faith or church, you’ve likely heard it or the concept around it. The Sabbath gives us a chance to pause and rest. It’s something modeled for us in the way God made the world. The story of creation reminds us that God worked hard for six days before taking time to rest on the seventh. It’s the model—the structure—for how we can shape our weeks. While we may be busy, we’re still called to pause.

To rest from the things that worry, distract, stress, or demand too much from us. To Sabbath. Of course, there’s no formula here. Sabbath doesn’t have to be on a Sunday. It doesn’t have to be a sleep-all-day-and-do-nothing kind of thing. It doesn’t even have to be overly spiritual. It can simply be a pause that gives you time to do something you enjoy—something that gives you rest. Cleaning your room, spending time with friends, going for a walk, reading, and spending time with the Lord—these are all great ways to find rest. So this week, think about what Sabbath looks like for you. Then, give it a try!

Pause

Being busy has become the norm—a way of doing things in a culture that celebrates and even encourages living life well beyond our mental, emotional, and physical capacity. The result? A hurried life. So what do we do? During this devotional, we’ll look at the value of slowing down, taking a break, and pushing pause when we need it the most to help us be present, connect with God, and see God’s presence in our lives.
