Year of the Bible: Part Six of Twelve Примерок
Stay in Your Lane
David had many gifts, and so do you! David was a worshipper, a lover of God, a man after God’s own heart who listened for the Lord’s strategies, an incredible warrior, and a man of faith who took on enemies that dared assault the character of his God. David defended the weak, slew giants, and inspired men. He could do so many things well.
Sometimes, there are many things we could do, but that doesn’t mean God wants us to do them. There comes a time when a person has to pass the baton or focus on doing a few things well instead of trying to do everything. For all that David could do, his calling was not to build a temple for the Lord; however, trusting and believing God’s promises was his constant calling. As our journey continues, recognizing and focusing on God’s priority for us helps us magnify our impact for the Kingdom of God. We can see so many exciting possibilities for serving the Lord—so many needs, so many ways we could lend our services—but, oh, what power is released when we stay in our lane, do what we were made to do, and do it well.
Question: If you were to evaluate your life between now and your departure to be with the Lord, are there things you really must do before you pass away—responsibilities you know God has put in your lane?
Prayer: Today, spend a few moments lifting up those deepest desires, concerns, or ministries you must do for the Kingdom of Heaven before your time is up. Ask God to make a way for you to settle into the ministries that will make an eternal impact. Ask Him when to “pass the baton” of some of your current responsibilities and, like David, help equip that next person to work with excellence.
