Why does understanding the Bible matter?

Read Psalm 119:1–8

The first letter of the alphabet depicts the fundamental reasons God made certain we would have the words of Scripture for our lives.

1. Why do we want to live according to God’s word?
2. Why did God give us the Bible—his perfect truth?
3. What should our goal be when we read and study God’s word?

Conclusion

The Bible is the best-selling book of all time. Throughout history, people have believed in God, his word, and his teachings. The founding fathers of America used the principles in the Bible to help establish the system of governance in America. Many of them shared the faith, even those that didn’t, shared the values.

Thomas Jefferson: “The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of man.”
