Gospel Hope: Devotions From Time of GraceПримерок
A God Of Abundance
Human beings have some pretty ironclad limitations. We can be in only one place at a time. We are locked into one little moving dot on the time line of history; the past is hazy and fuzzy, and the future is completely unknown. And we all know that there are only limited resources for solving big problems.
Except when God steps in. When He chooses, God can bust loose from all the restraints of the laws of physics. Whether it involves Jesus walking on water, restoration of atrophied legs and muscles with a word, or defying gravity by rising off the ground, our God is a God of abundance, whose power and compassion know no limits.
A great crowd of people had been listening to Jesus. They were past hungry – they were in danger of collapse from lack of sustenance. “When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’ He asked this only to test him, for He already had in mind what He was going to do. Philip answered Him, ‘Eight months’ wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!’” (John 6:5-7).
Philip could not imagine that there was a solution to the food problem. How he must have been dazzled by what Jesus did with five loaves of bread and two fish! Are you dazzled too? Does your God have limits?
