13 DIENA NO 14

Life or death

All of us are a bundle of opinions on great movies we’ve seen, restaurants we like, favorite foods, coolest cars, and politics. These opinions are all over the place, and though people love to argue passionately about them, they are neither right nor wrong.

Some people would add religious beliefs to that mix and add that everybody’s religious opinions are just as valid for them as every other opinion. Religious “intolerance” is very unfashionable these days. Christianity, however, is not a religion or philosophy. It is reality, like gravity or the rotation of the earth. It is not one of many honorable points of view. Its teachings are not true for some and not for others.

Moses’ last words to the Israelites impressed on them what was at stake in their treatment of God’s revelation to them: “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life (Deuteronomy 32:46,47). The whole world is caught up in a titanic struggle between light and darkness, good and evil. You are either with the God of the Bible or against him. It is life or death.

The Bible is not just an ancient and interesting piece of literature. It connects you to Christ, who holds the keys to heaven and hell, and you will spend eternity in one or the other.
