7 Reasons to Love God's WordParaugs
Reason 5: To Know God’s Will
Do you need to hear from God about whatever is happening in your life? If so, read your Bible! Read it, and read it, and read it some more, asking the Lord to speak to you, until something you read seems to jump off the page about your situation!
Yes, you can learn from the Bible what God’s will is for every situation.
The Bible addresses every situation either explicitly or implicitly. For example, the Scripture explicitly states “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3), which tells us not to worship idols. This is a clear command we can follow, so we know not to set up an idol in our home.
When things are not as clear, however, God’s Word will still have principles that will guide our decisions.
In other words, the Bible may not address every situation by its proper name in our modern culture. But, it will still clearly tell you the guiding principles by which you should make every decision.
For example, the Bible doesn’t reference the name of your favorite TV show. However, if you’re wondering whether it’s okay with God for you to watch a TV show that glorifies sin, we know from Philippians 4:8 that we should only look at things that are pure and lovely.
God’s Word will guide your decisions in every situation. It’s yet another reason to love the Scriptures!
