Harriet Powers, a former slave, exhibited a quilt in 1886 at the Athens Cotton Fair. Now in the collections of the Smithsonian, this beautiful "Bible Quilt" depicted fifteen major scenes from the Bible, including Jacob's dream from Genesis 28.
