Reflecting God's glory
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
As long as we live here on earth, we see God's glory only in a limited way, “as in a mirror.” Yet, this sight does not leave us unmoved. If we live close to God and look to Him, we will become more and more like Him through the Holy Spirit. We turn into new people. 1 John 3:2 even says, “When He [Jesus] appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.” That is God's purpose for us; He has already destined us for this before we were born. That is what His salvation work is aimed at.
Proverbs 22:24-25 warns us: “Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways”. If you hang out with people a lot, you will adopt their behavior and eventually become like them. Now the Bible actually says: if you spend a lot of time with the Lord, you also become like Him!
This is amazing. I can somehow understand that we are changed by the Holy Spirit. After all, there is enough in my life that does not earn God's approval and must be changed. But the fact that in the end we will be “like Him” is really stunning!

The Bible speaks much of God's glory, expressed by the words כָּבוֹד (in Hebrew) and δόξα (in Greek). This is God’s heavenly splendor and majesty that sometimes becomes visible on earth. This reading plan will show you how great God is and how you as a believer can share in His glory.
