Woman to Woman: Three L’s of DisciplemakingParaugs
Listen to God!
Listening plays a key role whenever I am discipling someone.
First, I always seek to listen to the Lord regarding whom He wants me to disciple and how He wants me to join what He’s doing. This listening begins even before I meet with someone.
God is the Great Discipler! He knows that person better than I ever will. And He knows exactly where He’s at work in their lives and what they truly need. This is why I find it so vital to lift them up before His throne of grace and ask Him to give me insight into how He’d like me to proceed. The ideas He gives are amazing!
Before every meeting, I pray in light of James 1:5 and ask for God to give me wisdom. This has taken my interactions to a new depth of effectiveness.
Asking the Lord for wisdom makes me much more likely to share treasure than if I’m speaking off the top of my head. As the proverb says, “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11).
