How To Pray For Healing And Get ResultsParaugs
Principle #2: Pray with expecting faith
In various healing narratives in the New Testament, Jesus healed people in response to their faith. This does not mean that He is not sovereign, but rather that in His sovereignty He has decided to respond to our faith in certain situations.
The case of the healing of the woman with a blood issue narrated in the Gospel of Mark chapter five is a great example of healing by faith. This woman suffered with an issue of blood for twelve years and spent what she had on doctors and medicine but only got worse. One day she heard about Jesus and believed that if she touched Him, a miracle would happen. She pushed through the crowd and reached out and touched Jesus in faith. At that moment, healing power was released from Jesus and she was healed instantly! He acknowledged that power came out of Him and that the woman was healed by faith:
“He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” (Mark 5:34)
Biblical faith is grounded in the understanding of God's will as expressed in His Word (Romans 10:17). Faith grows in our hearts as a response to the understanding of God's will. It is confident expectation that God will meet our needs. Faith is the bridge that connects the provision of Heaven to the needs of Earth.
The woman healed of the issue of blood is a clear example of expecting faith. Before she touched the clothes of Jesus, she had the conviction that she would receive her miracle: "because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed."(Mark 5:28)
Multitudes have received extraordinary miracles in our evangelistic campaigns and it is common to hear similar stories. Many have said in their hearts, "I know that Jesus will heal me" before receiving a miracle from God.
In the Book of James, we are taught that if we are going to pray for the sick, we should pray in Faith: “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” (James 5: 15)
Putting it into practice: When you pray for healing, make sure you pray in Faith and do not doubt. Pray with eager expectation and unwavering assurance that God is with you, He is listening to your prayer and will respond with a miracle.
