Remember God’s Track Record

Our walk down memory lane is almost complete, but we have one more stop on this road. We’ve remembered who God is, remembered who we are, and now we will remember God’s track record.

Trust is vital to any relationship. It’s vital to marriage and family relationships, friendships, work, and other relationships. Trust is built over time through consistency, reliability, and other confirmations of dependability and care. This is how our trust grows in our relationship with God, too. As we walk with Him, we can see His character and promises proven over and over in our lives. This builds our confidence in Him and gives us hope. Remembering God’s track record is all about remembering the reasons that we have grown to trust Him. He has been faithful in our lives before, and we can look back at His track record as we wait for Him to show Himself faithful again.

When employers look at a candidate’s resume, they do not just hire them based on their skills and qualifications on paper. Employers will also ask for specific accounts of a candidate’s skills in action and specific outcomes of their past work. Success comes when qualifications on paper meet a track record that proves a potential hire can do what they say they can do.

Of course, God doesn’t have anything to prove to us. He isn’t a candidate hoping to prove their competency to a potential boss, but He invites us to look at His track record through Scripture and in our lives. When we do so, we can more fully trust that He is who He says He is. He is the God who defeated David’s giant and who helps with the giants we face. He’s the God who provided for Abraham and who provides for us. God’s track record throughout the history of His people is amazing. His character doesn’t change just because the giants get taller, the tests get hard, or the fire gets hotter. He is the same faithful, powerful, and dependable God today.

Thought of the Day: Trusting God can be difficult, but I will look to the Scriptures and the history of my own life to remember God’s track record. I will build my confidence in His character and care by looking at His faithfulness. He’s done it before, and He’ll do it again.
