STAY WITH ME

Seasons come and go, and people come and go; sometimes, it seems to be for no reason, but we must remind ourselves that everything happens according to God’s plan for a reason. Despite the lack of understanding we may have of why life is ever-changing, God promises never to change and never to leave us.

Sometimes, God does things that we don’t understand, which causes us to feel a disconnect from Him. The feeling of disconnection from God can bring an enormous toil that makes us feel like the power of God that is with us and lives within us is gone.

I thought God had forsaken me when I didn’t feel His presence helping me accomplish a goal. But I later found out that God DID NOT forsake me; I had forsaken Him by trying to achieve the goal according to my own will! I placed burdens on myself by trying to accomplish things according to my might and strength, but I found out I’m incompetent if I don’t have God with me. I had to learn to get my goals accomplished according to God’s will, which is holy, pleasing, and acceptable and not my own. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13 NIV).

In Deuteronomy 31, Moses is stepping down as the leader and encouraging the Israelites to put their trust in Joshua, whom God picked to lead them into the Promised Land. Joshua had a challenging task, yet Moses encouraged him to be “strong and courageous” (verse 6) because the Lord would fight his battles.

When intense tasks arise, you will be tempted to sacrifice your Christian faith and stray away from Bible-based morals that bring commitment to your life. Despite the challenges, God has equipped us with all that we need to endure to complete the tasks he has given us.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I sacrifice my will for your will. Please get whatever you require of me. Thank you for staying with me despite some of my unfaithful acts to you. Whenever I don’t feel your presence, please gently remind me that you will be with me forever. In Jesus name, Amen!
