How Much Jesus Loves Us!

Jesus knows you down to the last detail

Why did Jesus say, "Which of you will give a stone to his son who asks him for bread?"

It was a tradition at the time for a father to prepare small balls of bread and bake them by the fire. To distinguish stones from bread, he would touch them with a stick: the hard ones were stones, and the soft ones were bread.

So, this analogy allows us to grasp the solicitude of a father, ready to offer the best to his child, a reflection of divine generosity. This does not detract from the original teaching, but rather enriches our reading of the Scriptures.

If the father hadn't touched the bread with a stick, he wouldn't have known the difference between the bread and the stone. For the child, it was identical: whether it was a stone heated by the fire or a small ball of bread, everything seemed the same to him - the same shape, color (because of the wood ashes) and size.

But the father, by touching it, knew which was the "soft object" and which was the "hard object".

What we understand is that Jesus, through this statement, reveals the depth of his love. Jesus knows exactly what you need, and watches over your life as this father watches over what his son will eat. Jesus' "no's" are not restrictions but protection. Jesus' "no's" are guardians of our true path.

Remember that Jesus has plans for peace, not misfortune, to ensure a future full of hope. He knows your heart, he hears your prayers and he wants to take care of you! Trust in his love for you.
