Prayers, Guidance and Wisdom for DadsPavyzdys
My Family Can Count on Me
Terrance was a great guy—funny, lighthearted, and a good time to be around. So why did he and his wife have so many problems? Unfortunately, he was also a man of empty promises. Night after night, after telling his wife Kelly he’d be home in time for dinner, he wasn’t. Though he promised to set aside money for the new home they wanted to buy, another random item he wanted to purchase always took precedence.
He even made promises to the kids for fun weekends together, only to end up working at home or getting caught up in some other activity that allowed him to push his promise to the following weekend.
While these empty promises seemed insignificant to Terrance, they certainly weren’t to his wife and kids. They couldn’t trust him at his word. This lack of trust eroded their relationship with him.
Trust is foundational for any good relationship. Trust isn’t automatic. It takes intentionality and commitment. When those things are lacking, that absence of trust conveys the message, “You simply don’t matter enough to me.”
Your words and actions need to match if you want your family to be able to depend on you.
A trustworthy man creates stability and security for his family because everyone knows he is a man of his word. A trustworthy man is a man who, like God, doesn’t lie, keeps his promises, and is always faithful to show up. God blesses men such as this.
Let's Pray:
Dear Lord, thank you for always being faithful, speaking the truth, and being there when I need you. Help me to be a man who displays the same kind of trustworthiness for my family. Amen.
