Preparing for the Power of Pentecost

3 diena iš 7

Whether it's as a parent or in our own childhood, we can all recall a childish moment ignoring directions. We have all experienced that sluggishness, uncertainty, or hesitation that comes after instruction. As we look at this scripture, we see something similar.

Consider Jesus's ascension and the reaction of the two divine messengers. You could imagine the disciple's emotions at this point. They've seen their Rabbi crucified, buried, resurrected, and then spent 40 days with Him. (Talk about a stressful month!) Their time together was sweet and filled with conversations about the Kingdom of God. For the Apostles, this moment would mean a drastic change to their earthly communion with God. It is easy to imagine the hesitancy and uncertainty that would have swirled in their minds.

It is at this moment the two messengers ask the pivotal question: Why are you looking to the sky? The answer might seem clear. (They are looking at the sky because that is where Jesus had been moments earlier.) But the messenger's question implies there is something better: doing what He instructed until He returns.

As leaders, we must bias ourselves and our teams for actions in obedience to Christ. If we want to experience power like Pentecost, we must act with obedience to Christ's calling.

Action Steps:
Are you following in obedience to the calling of God on your life or are you simply staring at the sky? Pray that God would make clear His calling for this season of your life and that you would have the courage to follow in obedient action.
