Zipporah
You’ve probably heard it said, behind every great man is a great woman. Zipporah was one such woman. She was the wife of Moses and we see her faithfully depicted in Scripture as a woman who feared the LORD and was obedient.
God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and slavery; Moses reluctantly agreed. He packed up some things, his wife, and sons, and they headed toward Egypt. Along the way, the LORD met with, and confronted, Moses. When Zipporah saw Moses didn't heed the LORD's word and that his life was in danger, she acted in obedience herself. By Zipporah's observation and obedience, Moses' life was spared that night.
Jesus taught that those who love him keep his commandments. It is out of love that one obeys. But even people of great faith fail. Being surrounded by the right people is critical. Sometimes we are called to be such a person for another, just as Zipporah was for Moses.
1. Who are the people in my life that will speak God's truth to me?
2. Am I a person who is willing to obey God even when another doesn't?
Prayer: Father, thank you for your forgiveness and love. May I be a woman who follows you and faithfully obeys your Word.
