When you dedicate yourself to God, it's not just about being filled yourself, but also about sharing what you have received. Today, you’ll read how God calls you to be His hands and feet and to live and pass on His words.
Often our relationship with God is focused on being filled ourselves. We take time to read the Bible, pray to God, and listen to what He has to say. But it doesn't stop there. When He speaks to us through His words and His Spirit and our hearts are touched, we may also pass on His words. You may realize that today, you are His voice, His hands, and feet. That, wherever you go, Jesus is also there. That you may put His words into practice. "And be doers of the Word and not just hearers. Otherwise, you deceive yourself," James urges us in James 1:22 (NIV). This is not always easy.
I remember that, during my trip to the Masai people in Kenya, I attended a long church service. During the time of worship, a little girl walked up to me and sat on my lap. She was incredibly dirty, smelly, and wet. She had poop under her torn nails, poop on her legs, and sand and bugs in her short braids. I looked at this pile of human being, bewildered, and felt revulsion and disgust. Then these verses came to mind very strongly: "Whoever receives a child in My Name receives Me.” It was as if God was asking me, "Will you embrace her, look at her as I do?” I experienced some of God's compassion for this child and put my arms around her. For half an hour she did not move, and I felt part of those Bible verses: “...receives Me.” When God touches your life, you in turn can touch others.
Ask God today how you can be His voice, His hands, and His feet wherever you go today.
