Three ingredients for significance

Show me your values, and I’ll show you your reality. I’m not sure what your daily schedule is like, but mine is nuts. Daily, I’m inundated by texts, emails, phone calls, bills, appointments, requests for aid, invitations, blessings, and trials. Life can be filled with business needs, demands, and others’ expectations.

Do you ever feel this way? The Apostle Paul did: “We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.” (2 Corinthians 4:8, NIV) Somehow this makes me feel a lot better. Even the Apostle Paul struggled with the daily grind. Someone once said that misery loves company. Perhaps that’s why I feel a sense of comfort knowing that many of us feel this way. My dad used to say, “All men bleed red.” I wasn’t sure what he meant then, but I do now.

Let me offer you some solutions that have helped me survive and even thrive:

  1. Pray every day. Ask God for help. Be filled with the Spirit.
  2. Don’t allow other people to make you miserable, angry, depressed, or bitter.
  3. Add value to others. There is always one person in your world who needs your help. You can give finances to your church and its compassion outreaches. You can volunteer your time. You can mentor a young person or coach a team.

If you commit to these three daily priorities, I believe you’ll see and feel a big difference. You can choose your priorities, or someone else’s priorities will rule you.

Are you ready to start? Yes? Great!

Please never forget you are a miracle.

Your friend, Paul Marc Goulet
