Finding Happiness in Christ (Series 5)Pavyzdys
The attitude of an astronaut
I am weary with my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. (Psalm 6:6)
Astronaut Shannon Lucid was not supposed to set an American record for time spent in space. However, her duties had to be extended by another 1.5 months due to technical difficulties with the shuttle rocket and two storms. As a result, Lucid stayed in space for 188 days and broke the record for endurance space in America and the world record for the female category. She returned to Earth with awards from politicians, NASA, and her beloved family.
What is not reported in Lucid's record-breaking news on the Russian space station Mir, is the good reputation that Lucid has with its Russian hosts. This reputation is based not only on her technical expertise as an astronaut but also on the fact that her Russian partner never once heard Lucid complain during the six months she had to live there. Every time Lucid was notified of the shuttle rocket delay, she accepted the news.
Valery Ryumin, Russia's space manager, observed that Lucid reacted like a Russian cosmonaut when their mission was extended, "Russians deliberately choose cosmonauts who are 'strong enough not to show feelings' when receiving bad news."
Complaining not only makes you feel negative, but it also spreads your attitude to others. Even unpleasant or disappointing situations can be positive if you have a good attitude and speak constructive words.
Jesus can turn water into wine but He cannot turn your complaints into anything.
Reflection: Complaining will not reduce our burden. On the contrary, it will only make us feel weaker. Be a strong and tough person in Christ! Depend on Him in this life.
Joy is complete confidence that God is in control over every area of my life.
