Relationships According to the Book of Ruth Pavyzdys

DAY 6: “Your God, will be my God.”
But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God”.
Ruth was married to Chilion, Naomi’s second son, and after Chilion passed away, Ruth chose to leave her family, her culture, her house, her people, and her gods. One of the most well-known verses in Ruth is when she responds to Naomi, saying that “Your people shall be my people, and your God my God”.
It is inevitable in our lives that we will experience tough times, but do we turn back to our old lives? Our old ways? Our old “gods”? Or do we remain faithful in our relationship with God? Ruth went through a callous time, yet she did not return to her old ways, comfortable life, culture, or even gods. So often, it happens that we start to follow God or we have been following him for a while, but the moment tough times come, we hesitate, or we decide that it is not worth it. God is always worth it. God never fails, God never forgets, and God always provides.
Pray this today:
“Lord I am sorry for when tough times come, that I begin to doubt you, forget your promises and who You are. I am sorry for turning back to my old ways. Thank you for forgiving me Lord. Please help me to remain faithful to You and help me to trust in You. I can not do it on my own. I love you Lord. Amen”.
