Ephesians: Tear Down These Walls

If Paul had not penned this prayer, I’m not sure we’d be bold enough to ask for something so significant. This is a prayer that we would be filled to the full with God (3:19)!

How is it possible for the infinite to fill the finite? If God were to empty his fullness on us, it’d be like filling a water balloon with a fire hose.

Yet, we sense that this is what we were created for. We long to experience the transcendent, the infinite. This is a prayer for you to experience God. His love and his power!

Paul knows that inner strength, spiritual strength, comes from a deep and growing understanding of our beloved-ness. His prayer is for an encounter with God’s love.

Like a tree that puts down deep roots into the ground and draws nutrients from the soil. So too, when we’ve put down deep roots into God’s love, we will grow and mature.

This isn’t a prayer simply for head knowledge of God’s love but experiential relational knowledge deep in our bones. For an experience of God's love as the Holy Spirit pours it out in our hearts (Romans 5:5). A prayer for ever increasing capacity to comprehend the limitless dimension of God’s love.

It’s a feeble yet fruitful task to attempt to measure the immeasurable dimensions of God’s love. Walk the length and width of it, if you can. Descend to the depths and climb to the heights of it. Enjoy it!

To know and experience God’s love like this will satisfy, fill, and transform us. It will make us whole, happy, and secure.

Inner strength comes from understanding our beloved-ness!

Imagine the power unleashed in our church(es) if we seriously and consistently prayed a prayer like this? A church that truly knows and experiences the love and power of God.

Our invitation today is to approach the throne of God with confidence and ask him to turn on the hose of his love and soak us!

God loves you. Heaps!
