Beating Anxiety at Its Own Game Pavyzdys
One Day At A Time
Each day has its own struggles. Not sure if you agree with that but it is true. Everyday has new mercies which are needed for the fresh challenges that we face be it at home, at work, with children, extended family and friendships. This requires of us to fundamentally take each day as it comes, with its highs and lows, ups and downs, losses and gains. A lot of times anxiety stirs up in our hearts when we think of what we must accomplish the next day, or week or even month.
Jesus, God in the flesh, Himself, said that it is futile to worry about the future. He drew our attention in Matthew 6 to the flowers in the field and the birds of the air who live life as it comes. No worries, no striving, just living the life they are give to live. The Message translation in 1 Peter 5 verse 7 says “Live carefree before God; He is most careful with you”.
What an encouragement that is - to be allowed to live carefree and not carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. This should help us start everyday with the firm belief that God has gone before us into the day and that He has our backs. It should also help us end every day with the simple faith that He will take care of us the next day however intimidating the next day looks for He exists outside time and He knows everything. This means that He will give me wisdom to handle what comes at me, strength to overcome the hurdles and endurance to finish well.
We will find that in taking one day at a time we learn how to be present and to enjoy every moment we have. When anxiety takes over our lives we miss out on those simple joys that are woven into our lives, we are physically present but mentally absent from the lives of those around us. Relationships suffer and our health often deteriorates as a result.
Capture the image, of the birds that flit past your window or the flowers that you see growing so gracefully in your garden, on the film of your mind and allow yourself to enjoy every second of your life. make every day count by seeing how you can bless or encourage someone else. We have one life to live, its up to us how we live that life.
Anxiety is not a dead end street, it’s a short detour that will lead you back onto the highway of your life if you take each day as it comes without over processing the what ifs of tomorrow.
Are you ready to slow yourself down and just enjoy the day?
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank You for each day that I wake up to. I am grateful for life, health and strength. Help me to enjoy this day to its fullest potential; remove worries about tomorrow and fill me with faith instead.
In Jesus name.
Amen

Anxiety in all its forms can be debilitating as it can throw us off balance and keep us bound in fear. This is not the end of the story though, for in Jesus, we find freedom and the grace to overcome the struggle. We don't just overcome it but we can be made better for it thanks to the word of God and the constant reassuring presence of God.
