“Lord, Use Me”

Scripture: Romans 12:4–6; 2 Chronicles 16:9

God wants to use every one of us as a world changer. That may not mean standing in front of people and declaring His message. But it may very well mean leaving our comfort zones and stretching our faith to attempt something we have never done before.

A good way to begin stepping into a new place in your life is to pray a simple prayer like this: God, I will do what You want me to do, go where You want me to go, and say what You want me to say. And then stay alert for opportunities to step out in faith as the Lord opens doors for you.

I love Paul’s words in Romans 12:4–6: “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.”

We’re all parts of this one body and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other and each of us needs all the others. What does that look like? Maybe something like this.

When you first open your eyes in the morning, before you put your feet on the floor, offer up a silent prayer: Lord, use me.

When you walk through the doors of your church: Lord, use me.

When you enter your workplace or classroom or step into a coffee shop: Lord, use me.

When you step through your front door into your house: Lord, use me.

I can assure you with all confidence that God is looking for people to use every day—people who want to serve others rather than be served. As the Old Testament prophet told King Asa, “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). God will use you if you let Him.

Name three doors you will walk through this week—into church, your home, a coffee shop, a neighbor’s house, the gym… Say a prayer every time you go through those doors: Lord, use me.

World Changers

A world changer is simply a person who chooses every day to be available to God. In this week’s devotional, we’ll look at why faith is the key to living that kind of life. As we’ll see in Hebrews 11, world changers make a difference because they have more trust in God than in themselves—and end up in amazing situations they never would have dreamed possible!
