At Rest
The golden hour glow fades into night and the day becomes a memory. Our bodies begin to unwind into the mysterious process of rest.
Of all the things we don’t know about rest, one thing is certain...it’s essential. Our bodies are temporarily shut down, so that our minds can work overtime attempting to sort and catalog our experiences and literally heal itself physically and psychologically.
Even God, the Creator of the heavens and earth, needed rest. The Bible doesn’t waste much time before mentioning it, either. Genesis 2:2 tells us that on the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all his work. This should clue us in to the importance of resting.
Often, we use rest as interchangeable with the idea of relaxation. But maybe “rest” doesn’t mean that God took a vacation and laid by the pool. Maybe rest is about reflection. God looked upon his creation and declared it good.
In its best form, rest can be a beautiful time where we reflect and recharge. However, we also have the capacity to wear ourselves thin during this time. Shame of the past and fear of the future creep in and work against our body and mind. Rest forces us to face our own uncertainty and we can either fight it or lay it down. Matthew 11:28 NIV says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” God knows our internal battles and gives us a lifeline to peace.
Lay down your burdens at the feet of the creator and God’s rest will allow you to approach your next moment with intention and clear vision. Where did you sense God today?

Moments. The fragments of time that make up our days. The economy that's most valuable to us. In a perfect world, we're soaking in every moment. But in reality, urgency can easily become our focus and we lose touch with what’s truly important. Throughout this 5-day study from CCV Music, we look at the key moments of the day and see how God is present in every moment.
