Daily Bible Reading – April 2020 God’s Life-Giving Word Of HopePavyzdys
April 25
Introduction
Today’s reading is a continuation of yesterday’s reading (Hebrews 5:11—6:12), and we learn of God’s promise to Abraham as recorded in Genesis 22:16, 17. God’s promise is supplemented by a vow which underscores God’s faithfulness and reliability and indicates that God’s purposes never change.
Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 6:19a
We have this hope as an anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure.
Today’s Reading
Hebrews 6:13-20
Reflect
What was the promise God made to Abraham? Why was Abraham chosen to be the recipient of God’s promise? Why did God add a vow to the promise? On what occasions are vows made within your community of faith?
Pray
Merciful and loving God, your promises are sure, and my hope in you is like an anchor, grounded in trust in you. I want to grow in my understanding of your ways so that I might live by the teachings of Jesus. Increase my wisdom as I seek to serve you faithfully. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those making sacred vows
