Daily Bible Reading – February 2020 God’s Life-Giving Word Of LovePavyzdys
February 9
Introduction
Today’s reading is a parable that Jesus tells to explain what it means to love your neighbor as yourself (see Leviticus 19:18 from the reading for February 1). This story is known by many as “The Parable of the Good Samaritan.”
Today’s Scripture: Luke 10:27
The man answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind’; and ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’”
Today’s Reading
Luke 10:25-37
Reflect
A teacher of the Law asks Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” Why does Jesus answer the question posed to him with a parable? In Jesus’s day the Jews and the Samaritans distrusted one another. What is the significance of the one who stopped to help being identified as a Samaritan? What does this parable teach you about love and compassion? How do you respond to the question, “Who is my neighbor?”
Pray
Lord Jesus, fill me with compassion and help me to reach out in love to those in need. Order my steps this day so that my actions are in accord with your will. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Neighbors in need of help and encouragement
Tomorrow’s Reading
Luke 17:11-19: A foreigner returns to give thanks to Jesus for healing him.
