How to Overcome Fearಮಾದರಿ

What Are You Afraid of?
Let’s pretend you’re out hiking in a place where lions are known to live. You turn a corner on the trail and see a lion up ahead. What do you feel? Hopefully some level of fear.
Fear is a good thing. It’s a God-given tool that keeps us safe, reminds us of our limits, and stops us from making decisions we might regret. Fear would tell you it’s a bad idea to rush forward, proclaiming, “The Spirit of God does not make us timid!” as you try to hug the lion, even if you are a cat person.
Helpful fear is temporary and helps us stay safe. Healthy fear says, “I’m going to make sure I have a plan if I see a lion in the woods.”
But unhealthy fear is different. It’s chronic, it’s overwhelming, and it keeps us stuck in anxiety.
That’s the kind of fear we’re working to overcome in this three-day plan. Of course, you’re probably not reading this because of an all-consuming fear of lions (although we wouldn’t blame you). For you, it might be something more like a fear of public speaking, starting a new relationship, failing in a new business, or losing a loved one.
Take a few moments to think about what you’re afraid of. Whatever it is, it matters, and it’s a big deal. This plan won’t ignore or trivialize your fears. But there is good news.
If you feel trapped by worry or overwhelmed by what-ifs, God can help you find freedom. He has something better for you: peace, confidence, and the courage to take the next step, even when you’re afraid.
God is with you in your fears and wants to be your source of comfort. So, today, ask Him to help you find relief in the middle of your fears.
You can use this example prayer to get started:
A Prayer to Trust God
Dear God, You know the fears weighing on my heart. Sometimes they feel too big for me to handle. But I know You are bigger. Help me to trust You, even when I don’t have all the answers. Remind me that I’m never alone and that You’re always with me. Fill me with Your peace and strength today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Challenge: Do you need prayer? You don’t have to face your fears alone. Let us know how we can pray for you!
