Abundant Life in Christ

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

(John 10:10 NIV)

Jesus offers Abundant Life, far beyond the limits of religious rules. A fresh, alive faith in Jesus leads to true Joy, Purpose, and Fullness. It’s a reminder that Jesus came not to burden us with rules, but to fill us with Abundant Life.

Let me ask you - What does “abundant life” in Christ mean to you?

To me, Abundant Life means more than enough. It speaks to me of options, choice and overflow rather than lack, limitation and being hemmed in.

If I wanted to keep you from an Abundant Life, my tactics would look very similar to that of our enemy. I would attempt to steal your joy, kill your passion and destroy your freedom.

Religious bondage does just that. It sucks the life out of our true relationship with the Father and reduces it to mere rules. We must, therefore, remain vigilant against any form of religious bondage in our own spiritual walks with Jesus.

If you are starting to approach your quiet time every day with a sense of burden or obligation, it is a sign that you may need to return to Jesus in humility and love and find the life in your relationship again.

Whilst Jesus confesses not to have come to Earth to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, I believe that He has ushered in a new Grace that frees us from simply following rules and laws. He unveiled a 2-way relationship that involves a Father and His children, not a slave driver and his slaves.

There is a fullness and a richness to the state of a healthy relationship with Jesus...I wonder, are you living in that fullness, or are there areas where you feel restricted or weighed down by religious expectations?

If that is the case, there is no condemnation here. I would simply encourage you to consider how can you more fully embrace the life Jesus offers?

It may feel out of control or unexpected at times. It may involve risk or boldness and courage to step into a certain area that God is calling you out into – but isn’t that living? Truly living!

God is a Good God. He is a Good Father. He can be trusted with the Abundant Life He has created you for.

Take a moment now to thank Jesus for the Abundant Life He offers and pray for the Joy of His Presence to fill your heart each day. Ask for fresh faith that overflows with Life, Hope, and Joy in every season.
