The Rebuild: Matthew 5-7

DAY 39 OF 39

The wise are described as the person who builds a house on solid ground. A foundation that gives the building the stability to survive any adverse weather conditions.

However, the foolish are described as the builder who doesn’t take expert advice and builds on an unstable foundation which cannot stand against the elements.

The solid foundation of the rock guards against collapse unlike a foundation on sand. Jesus is the solid foundation of every believer, sadly we often stand on the shaky ground of our own unreliable wisdom.

As believers, we have trusted our eternity to the solid foundation of Jesus and His redemptive life, death and resurrection. As we build our lives in dependence on Christ our rock, we are able to stand against the storms of life - depression, death, broken relationships, and financial hardships. Sadly, we so often fail to trust God and are tossed to and fro when the storms of life hit.

Struggling like me to be a “doer”?

Let’s continue to put our trust in Jesus “the Rock” having confidence that He is the “Master Builder” and pray that His Spirit will enable us to not only listen to but also apply His wisdom in our lives.

Today, ponder this: What does it look like in your day-to-day to build our house on the firm foundation of Jesus practically? What practices do you have in your life to stand on solid ground?

About this Plan

The Rebuild: Matthew 5-7

“You have heard it said…” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins to rebuild and reform our understanding of life in His Kingdom. In Matthew 5-7, He challenges the religious traditions of His day and the competing worldviews of our own. His words are a call to transformation—a new way to live under His reign. As Jesus lays the foundation for His Kingdom, we are invited to tear down false beliefs and build our lives on His truth.
