Your Turn to Fight

Over the last few days, I hope you've grown to understand how to stand against the enemy’s schemes. But once you have your armor, the fight isn’t over. Actually, you're given a new charge or command.

You are no longer just fighting for you.

You are in a fight for those around you.

Paul finishes this section by discussing prayer and standing against the enemy. He emphasizes his constant need for prayer and how many people are praying for him. See, when we put on the armor of God, we don’t become a one-man army. We become warriors in God’s army. We stand shoulder to shoulder with others, fighting their battles, overcoming strongholds, and breaking down barriers.

But here’s the good news: We know the end of the story, and Jesus wins. But our job isn’t done. We are called to fight on behalf of others. And scripture tells us to do that through prayer. Lift up your brother and sister in Christ in prayer. Bring their requests and frustrations to God. Fight for them when they're too weak to fight for themselves. And pray for those who don’t know Jesus yet. Paul says that in multiple letters.

THIS IS HOW WE FIGHT.
1. We bring ourselves before the almighty, all-powerful God.
2. We stand firm. Arms locked, side by side against the enemy.
3. We pray. Brothers and sisters, lifting each other up.

Let’s make the enemy cower.
Let’s make the enemy tremble.
Not because of you and me…

But because we stand in the name of Jesus, the name that is above every other name. With Him by our side, there's nothing that we can't stand against.

Question to Ponder:

Do you pray for God's help in the battle? If so, are you lifting others up in prayer too? If not, what is one way you can make prayer a daily part of your life?
