199 Prayers for My Wife

DAY 7 OF 10

Strength and Dignity

She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Proverbs 31:18-25

Talk to God

Lord, my wife is such a hard worker. I confess that too often I take her for granted by not voicing and showing my appreciation. I know she takes on a great deal of responsibility regarding our family and our home. Father, help me to be more verbally appreciative of my wife, voicing my gratitude for who she is and all that she does. You have clothed her with strength and dignity, and you have given her great joy and laughter. I pray that even during her times of hard work, You will lighten her heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Think

Examine your thoughts about your wife—are they more often appreciative or frustrated? Affirming or critical?

Take Action

Get in the habit of practicing “drive-by appreciation.” As you see your wife doing her everyday tasks, voice your appreciation by saying, “Thank you for doing this. I am so grateful.”
