DAY 4 OF 21

Day 4: The God Who Provides

The story of the widow of Zarephath is one of desperation and hope. She was preparing what she thought would be her final meal. Her resources had dried up, and her future looked bleak. Then God sent Elijah with a word of faith: “Make me a small loaf of bread first, and then make something for yourself and your son.”

Imagine her hesitation. Give out of her lack? But her obedience unlocked God’s miraculous provision. The jar of flour didn’t run out, and the oil didn’t dry up—not for days, not for weeks, but for the entire season of drought.

Fasting reminds us of this truth: God is our ultimate provider. We live in a world that glorifies independence and self-sufficiency, but fasting repositions our hearts to rely fully on God. It’s not about what we can achieve or hold onto; it’s about trusting Him to meet every need, just as He met the widow’s.

Think about areas in your life where you’ve felt stretched or where resources seem scarce. Maybe it’s your finances, your time, or your energy. What would it look like to give God what little you have, trusting Him to multiply it?

Take time today to reflect on this truth: when we release what’s in our hands, God fills them with more than we could ever imagine. Pray and thank Him for His provision—past, present, and future. Trust that just as He provided for the widow, He will provide for you.

About this Plan

21 Days of Breakthrough

Over the next 21 days, we are setting aside time to seek God intentionally—through fasting, prayer, and giving. Matthew 6 reminds us that these three practices draw us closer to the heart of God and position us to experience His faithfulness in extraordinary ways. Each day, we'll be walking with you through stories from Scripture, personal reflections, and encouragement for this journey. Take time to reflect, pray, and let God speak to you. We're believing that as we lean into this together, He will do above and beyond all we could ask or imagine.
