We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 289 OF 365

Day 289 of 365

Zephaniah warns of the “Day of the Lord,” a time when God’s judgment and restoration will come upon the earth. This day serves as a reminder of God’s holiness and His intolerance of sin, yet it also reveals His deep love for humanity, urging us to repentance. In Acts 24, Paul faces trial but speaks boldly of righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment. The Holy Spirit stirs our hearts to live with a sense of urgency, encouraging us to align our lives with God’s standards as we await His return.

The Day of the Lord reminds us that God’s plans extend beyond our present circumstances. The Spirit teaches us to view our lives through the lens of eternity, letting go of temporary concerns and focusing on what truly matters—living in God’s will, sharing His love, and striving for holiness. Our lives are meant to be a reflection of God’s light, inviting others to prepare for His return and experience His grace.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you live with an eternal perspective. Seek to embody God’s love and righteousness in all you do, letting your life be a beacon that draws others to Him. May you reflect the beauty of His coming kingdom, inspiring others to embrace His truth and peace.

About this Plan

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God is a 365-day Bible reading plan led by Bishop Gary Lewis, the General Overseer of the Church of God. The plan is designed to deepen your faith and understanding of God’s Word. Each day begins with a short devotional, followed by carefully curated Scripture readings, and concludes with the S.O.A.P. exercise—Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Through this plan, you’ll grow in biblical literacy, discover God’s mercy and purpose, and learn to partner with Him in His Kingdom work.
