We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 279 OF 365

Day 279 of 365

Isaiah 65 and 66 give us a glimpse of the new heavens and the new earth, a promise that one day God will restore all things. This vision reminds us of the eternal hope we have in Him—a hope that should shape how we live here and now. In Romans 13, Paul emphasizes honoring governing authorities, recognizing that God has placed leaders over us for the purpose of order and peace. The Holy Spirit calls us to live with this eternal perspective, honoring God in how we respect both His eternal kingdom and the earthly systems He has permitted.

Living in light of eternity means recognizing that our actions, including how we honor authority, reflect our faith and commitment to God’s ways. The Spirit teaches us to respect those in leadership, praying for them and seeking peace. In doing so, we become lights in the world, demonstrating a humility and respect that transcends earthly power. By honoring those God has allowed to govern, we show trust in His sovereignty, knowing that He holds ultimate authority.

Today, invite the Holy Spirit to help you live with an eternal mindset that also values respect and honor. Pray for those in authority, asking God to guide them. May your life reflect the values of His eternal kingdom, inspiring others to see His light through your actions on earth.

About this Plan

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God is a 365-day Bible reading plan led by Bishop Gary Lewis, the General Overseer of the Church of God. The plan is designed to deepen your faith and understanding of God’s Word. Each day begins with a short devotional, followed by carefully curated Scripture readings, and concludes with the S.O.A.P. exercise—Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Through this plan, you’ll grow in biblical literacy, discover God’s mercy and purpose, and learn to partner with Him in His Kingdom work.
