DAY 5 OF 5

Come make all things new
All things new, all things new again
You make all things new
All things new, all things new again

Prepare/Be still

Get comfortable. Breathe in slowly. How are you today? Name your desires before the Lord.

Consider

In this world where so much feels temporary—where gifts break, relationships fray, and life brings loss—the promise that Jesus is making all things new is truly good news. As we celebrate His coming this Advent season, we also anticipate the day when all that is broken will be fully restored.

As you give and receive gifts this Christmas, let them remind you of the far greater gifts God has in store. Reorient your mind to the truth that even in the face of loss or disappointment, Jesus’ promise of restoration is sure. Rejoicing in this truth can transform how we approach the season. Rather than getting caught up in the temporary nature of things, we can live with a deeper sense of hope and anticipation for the day when all things will be renewed and all that is good will last forever. What a reason to celebrate!

Meditate

What are you looking to make new in the coming year?

What practices would enable you to present your desires for newness to the Lord?

Where are you longing for something new? How do you deal with this longing?

Activate

  • As you wrap new gifts for others this Christmas, consider what new gifts God may have for you in this season.
  • Notice what new items you are drawn to add to your Christmas list. Is there a theme or a longing that emerges?
  • Make a list of what you want to be made new in your life.
  • Start a new tradition this Advent season.
  • Choose a project in which you make something new.

About this Plan

Royal Son

A 5-day devotional based on the song “Royal Son.” Each day will include a space for stillness, Scripture, considering a devotional thought, pondering questions, and activating what you just read with practical next steps. Because this is considered an Advent/Christmas song, some suggestions will pertain to the Christmas holiday.
