How to Keep the Fire Burningಮಾದರಿ
Keeping our passion for God alive is essential, but life’s obstacles often make it challenging to stay committed. Just as a fire needs fuel to keep burning, our spiritual lives need continuous nurturing to remain strong. God calls us to overcome excuses and distractions that can dampen our faith, keeping our hearts “on fire” even when circumstances are hard. Today, we’ll look at Paul’s example and what it means to keep the fire of faith alive.
In Acts 28:2-3, when Paul arrived on the island after a storm, the natives welcomed him with a fire, even though it was raining—a difficult time to start a fire. The rain was an excuse they could have used to avoid the effort, but they persevered, recognizing the importance of warmth and light in a challenging moment.
The fire on the altar requires us to overcome excuses that would extinguish it.
In the same way, we often face excuses that can dampen our spiritual passion, whether they come from our sense of inadequacy, struggles with sin, or simple lack of time. If we want to stay “on fire” for God, we need to push past those obstacles, recognizing that our strength comes from Him. God understands our flaws and still invites us to draw near. Each time we choose faith over excuses, we fan the flame, making it stronger and more resilient. Every believer who is “on fire” for God has faced similar challenges and learned to overcome obstacles, choosing to trust in God’s strength instead of their own limitations.
Let's pray:
Lord, please help me to recognize and overcome any excuses that hold me back from fully following You. Remind me that You see my weaknesses and still call me to draw near. Help me to rely on Your strength, keeping my heart on fire for You, even when things get hard. Amen.
