The Confidence of Hope and the Pain of Separation

DAY 6 OF 7

The Reunion

Not only will there be a resurrection, but there will also be a reunion. We will be reunited with our loved ones who have died in Christ, and together, we will be with the Lord forever. This is the hope we cling to: the promise of eternal life and everlasting fellowship with God and our loved ones.

In Heaven, there will be no more goodbyes. The sorrow of separation will be replaced by the joy of reunion. As we look forward to this great day, we can reflect on the acronym DEATH—Departed, Earth, And Transported to Heaven. This reminds us that those who have departed from this earth are not lost; they have been transported to Heaven, into the very presence of God. They are alive in Christ, and we will see them again. Death is not an end, but a transition from the temporal to the eternal.

What a glorious day that will be! As we grieve now, we do so with the anticipation of that great reunion, where all tears will be wiped away and we will be together again in the presence of our Lord.

Reflection:

In what ways does the promise of reunion bring you comfort today?

About this Plan

The Confidence of Hope and the Pain of Separation

Grief is an emotion that touches the deepest parts of our souls, and this has been profoundly true for me since I lost my precious 21-year-old daughter, Jenita, on July 14th, 2024. The pain of losing someone so dear, so young, is indescribable. Every day is a reminder of the ache that comes with the absence of her presence, her laughter, her love. And yet, as I walk this painful road, I find myself held by a hope that does not disappoint—a hope rooted in Christ.
