Horizon Church December Bible Reading Plan - Christmas Advent: Jesus, Come

DAY 11 OF 31

Restorer of Life, Come

Throughout our lives, there are people, places, and moments that remind us of our identity and provide a sense of grounding. When we are facing challenges or uncertainty, these memories can bring comfort and peace. In the same way, God used tangible signs to remind the Israelites of His presence and His faithfulness to them. One of these signs was the bronze serpent that Moses lifted up in the wilderness. When the Israelites suffered from snake bites, God instructed Moses to lift up the bronze serpent, and all who looked upon it were healed.

In John 3:14-15, Jesus refers to this event, saying, “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” Just as the Israelites looked to the bronze serpent for healing, we are called to look to Jesus, who was lifted up on the cross for our salvation. His sacrifice restores us to God and brings healing to our brokenness.

During Advent, we are reminded of Jesus as the Restorer of Life. When faced with doubt, fear, or suffering, we are called to look to Him—the one who offers peace, forgiveness, and healing. As we reflect on the significance of Christ’s birth, let us also consider the depth of His sacrifice and the healing that He brings into our lives. Jesus offers us restoration for every broken part of our lives, and through His death and resurrection, we are made whole again.
