Down to Earth: A Christmas Devotional Journeyಮಾದರಿ
Day 21: A Life-Giving Invitation
Reflection
We’re told Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. But it doesn’t always feel that way.
In recent days, perhaps your patience has been tried by a family member who’s staying with you: they’ve constantly complained about your cooking – and so you snapped. Or maybe you’ve felt stressed for months because of a cancer diagnosis or hostile divorce, and there’s no sign of things improving as the New Year approaches. If you’re honest, you’ve not enjoyed the Christmas build-up, and you can’t wait for all the hype and pressure to be over.
But even if you feel out of sync with the season, you’re never out of sync with the Savior.
Jesus came down to Earth and experienced frustrations and temptations just like you – He understands that "living a life worthy of the Calling you’ve received" is a tall order. But by the Power of His Indwelling Spirit, He’s with you, helping you to reflect His Character – even in the most trying situations.
This isn’t another stressful task to add to your pre-Christmas to-do list. Rather, it’s a life-giving invitation to reflect His Majesty and Beauty, and in doing so join in His Work to make this world more like Heaven – to extend the Love, Joy, and Peace of the Perfect, down-to-earth King to your friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. Imagine the difference that could make.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You that You are always with me. Please help me to reflect Your Beautiful Character this week – to be a life-giving presence to those around me. Amen.
